December 2023
Dear WDP Families,
Can you believe that we are at Winter Break? I hope that you can enjoy the break and spend some relaxing time with those important people in your life.
It has been a busy, busy 4 months here at Pratt. So many things were started; are continuing and have been completed. We’ve bid farewell to – Mrs. Kazmaier (5-2) who has left on her maternity leave with Mrs. Ulveland moving into her role in 5-2. Mrs. Kathleen Bonello is back to us as she takes over the 5-5 classroom. We welcome Ms. Ana Degraffinreid who has moved into the 7-1/7-6 Humanities position while Mrs. Carr is looking after our English as Additional Language learners!
There have been some changes in the Phys Ed department:
53 and 96 will now be taught by Mrs. Bonello; 55, 74 and 94 now have Mrs. Carr for PE; 64 has been moved to Ms. Degraffinreid; Mr. Vahaaho will take over instruction for 8-6. These shifts are due to increased enrolment in our school since September.
THANK YOU for your support of our 8th Annual Adopt-A-Family! With your assistance we were able to support 13 of our Pratt families! This is a magnificent way to celebrate our community and we are grateful to everyone who participated. Thanks also goes to the Odd Fellows #46 and #81 who have taken it upon themselves to assist us again this year. Our amazing staff, School Council and Fundraising Society all participated in many ways.
Students and staff participated in this week’s “Spirit Week” – such fun! It was awesome to see everyone wearing their PJs to school; the lovely Holiday sweaters were amazing, and we enjoyed seeing joyous head wear on Friday!
Students enjoyed dancing and taking part in contests while our DJ (Mr. Auer) tested our new equipment provided by School Council. Others enjoyed games – also provided by School Council. We are very fortunate to be so well supported by our School Council and Fundraising teams!!
Pratt staff are looking forward to what 2024 brings for our school community. There will be field studies, out of province trips for some of our grade 9 students; athletic events – Volleyball begins at 7:00 am on January 8 for our grade 8 and 9 girls, Science Fair, math contests, Science Olympics; and, of course, our grade 9 farewell celebration.
We want to wish you the very best as you rest over this break, and a very Happy New Year to each one of you.
Janice, David and the Pratt team
