Labour Update

Our school will be open and ready to greet our students on Monday morning as usual.  We look forward to seeing them! Families will have received communication from the CBE providing a link to assist with understanding where the CBE and CUPE are in the process of the strike.

Planning Ahead

Planning for the 2025/2026 school year is coming fast!  If you know that your student will NOT be attending William D Pratt School in the fall, please send a note to Mrs. Lemke at sdlemke@cbe.ab.ca.  Having accurate enrolment numbers is critical as we begin to prepare for the next school year.

Kindness Week

Next week, we’re excited to celebrate Kindness Week, a time dedicated to spreading kindness, awareness, and building a positive school community. Here’s what your child can look forward to:

  • Monday: Each class will participate in a "secret class" activity, where students will perform an act of kindness for another class.
  • Tuesday: Students can wear their favorite color and meet peers dressed in the same color during lunch, where they’ll enjoy a special treat together.
  • Wednesday: Students will wear pink to show their awareness of bullying and to promote kindness. They’ll play Rock, Paper, Scissors to collect pink bead necklaces and practice being kind to their opponents.
  • Thursday: Classes will deliver their completed secret kindness activity before the school-wide assembly, where homeroom champions will compete for a gift card and the chance to face off against a mystery teacher!

Thank you to School Council for your support with these activities. We look forward to seeing the kindness and excitement from students throughout the week!

Athletics

Volleyball games and practices will continue for the remainder of the season. Spectators will be limited to parents/guardians of students and siblings who are accompanied by their parent/guardian. No student spectators will be allowed at this time. Families are asked to pick up their student athletes promptly following practices and games.

Learn and Share | School Planning

We know we make better decisions to support student learning when we build understanding and work together. That’s why we’ll be sharing information about school planning and asking you to share your perspectives.

During this engagement, you will have the opportunity to:

  1. Learn About
  • School planning, which includes the school development plan, school budget and school fees
  • How the school development plan sets the overall focus and direction for a school to improve student learning outcomes
  • How the school budget provides funding to implement our school development plan
  • School fees and why they are necessary
  1. Participate
  • Share your perspective through an online survey open from February 24th to March 10th.

Watch this short video to learn about the planning work schools do to improve and support student learning. We’ll send you a link to the survey, our school development plan and school budget and fees information when it’s available. We will also post it on our school website.

Student Surveys

Over the next two weeks Pratt students will have an opportunity to provide feedback on their learning and wellness through two different surveys. All responses to these surveys are anonymous and the data is aggregated before the school receives it.

CBE Student Survey (Grade 5,6, 8, & 9): An opportunity for students to report on themselves, their abilities and their accomplishments; and to take pride in what they have achieved.

Alberta Education Assurance Survey (Grade 7): Provide feedback to Alberta Education on students’, teachers’, and parents' / legal guardians' opinions about their school, their schoolwork and the opportunities their school provides. Provide important information on the quality of education students are receiving.
