February is Black History Month

“Every February, people across Canada participate in Black History Month events and festivities that honour the important legacy of Black people in Canada and their communities. The 2024 theme for Black History Month is: “Black Excellence: A Heritage to Celebrate; a Future to Build”. This theme celebrates the rich past and present contributions and accomplishments of Black people in Canada, while aspiring to embrace new opportunities for the future.” Some resources to support conversations are offered here.

Yearbook

Do you want to win a FREE yearbook? Any yearbooks purchased by midnight on February 7 will be entered into a draw. First prize is a FREE yearbook ($37.50 value) and Pratt swag, second prize is a $10 Starbucks gift card and Pratt swag, third prize is Pratt swag. If you’ve already purchased your yearbook, you are automatically entered! Please note - if you win, you will be refunded the $37.50 purchase price of the yearbook (not including any personalization or icons). Draw date: February 10th at the school. High School Transfers

Families can apply for their students to be considered for a high school transfer from February 1 to March 15. Applications for transfer are available based on specialized programs and course pathways. Casino

The WDP Fundraising team is hard at work getting ready to staff the Cowboys Casino for March 2 &3! Thank you to everyone who has already signed up. We need upwards of 40 volunteers to make this event a success. Our last casino in the summer of 2023 earned us over $82,000. This money is carefully spent at the school level on a wide range of items including books, technology, sporting equipment, musical instruments, and much more.

There is no experience required; you do not have to deal cards or roll dice; they have trained professionals for this. Your role is supplementary to the casino workers and you are supported by very amazing advisors every step of the way. Curious about a role?
