Call for Co-Chair Nominations

As we prepare for the 2024/2025 school year, we have two important vacancies within our School Council: the positions of Co-Chairs.

The Co-Chairs play integral roles in supporting our school community, fostering communication, and organizing initiatives to enhance our children's educational experience. Please see below for brief role descriptions excerpted from the School Council Handbook provided by the Calgary Board of Education:

  • Co-chair roles:
  • Lead all School Council meetings and collaborate with the Principal to set agendas.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Principal and oversee adherence to meeting rules and School Council operating procedures.
  • Serve as the official spokesperson for the School Council and facilitate communication with the entire school community.
  • Review and approve communications before distribution and stay updated on School Board policies affecting the School Council.
  • Potentially have signing authority for financial accounts and submit an annual report to the School Board summarizing the Council's activities.
  • Step in for each other if one is unable to fulfill their duties, ensuring continuity in leadership.
  • Assist in agenda preparation, ensure proper management of collected personal information, and communicate with other parent groups or fundraising associations within the school.
  • Support teamwork, facilitate meetings, stay informed about relevant school and School Board policies, and prepare to potentially assume the role of Chair in the future.
  • Undertake tasks assigned by each other and collaborate closely to ensure the smooth functioning of the School Council.

We welcome all parents and guardians who are interested to consider volunteering for these positions. No prior experience is required, and our team will provide support to help you get comfortable in your role. Whether you have previous leadership experience or are eager to develop new skills for your resume, your participation is greatly valued and welcomed.

To nominate yourself or recommend another parent for these positions, please reply to wdprattschoolcouncil@gmail.com outlining your interest and contact information.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our school community. Together, we can ensure a vibrant and enriching educational environment for our children.

Warm regards,

Lindsay Paul William D Pratt School
