September has flown by, and we’re excited to celebrate all the learning and events happening at our school! The Terry Fox Run was a tremendous success, raising almost $8000 and inspiring many laps. Thank you to all who contributed. This week, we’re eager to participate in Orange Shirt Day, with engaging activities in each class that will deepen our understanding and commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.
Meet the Teacher
We are excited to invite you to our Meet the Teacher event on September 26 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with introductions at 5pm and 6pm. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet your child’s teachers, learn about the curriculum, and ask any questions you may have. There will also be a Bridge Foundation presentation in the Learning Commons following the introductions in the main gym.
Truth and Reconciliation
September 30th is a non-instructional day. We encourage you to reflect on Truth and Reconciliation in your own lives. There is a free event at the Confluence Historic Site to commemorate Indian residential school victims and commit to acting on reconciliation. There will be presentations from various speakers, including the Mayor, Indigenous Elders, and school board representatives. Everyone is encouraged to wear orange.
Indigo Fundraiser
Our partnership with the Indigo bookstore at Dalhousie is ongoing. We encourage families to stop by the school's table display of student art and books preferred by students set up in the store. Athletics
Our basketball season is starting up and we are looking forward to hosting the annual Senior (October 3rd – 5th ) and Junior (Oct 17th – 19th ) Maverick Madness Tournaments.
School Council
Our next School Council meeting is October 16. This is an opportunity to collaborate with administrators and other parents, sharing ideas to better our school community.
