This Week at Pratt
We’ve wrapped up another week—and our first full month—at William D. Pratt. We are impressed with how well students have settled into their routines and our school community.
During Connect blocks this week, students and staff spent time learning about and beginning to action our new commitment to Truth and Reconciliation at Pratt. Building on Orange Shirt Day, we will continue this learning throughout October and the school year as we explore what Every Child Matters means, how it connects to each of us, and how it shapes the way we learn, grow and care for one another.
We also have some exciting learning happening beyond the classroom. Our rescheduled Grade 9 RiverWatch trips take place October 7 and 8, giving students the opportunity to study our local watershed aboard an “outdoor floating science lab.” Last week, Mr. Auer’s Outdoor Education class also took their learning to the Calgary Zoo!
Finally, I want to let families know that Ms. Fillmore will be taking some time away from work. We are grateful that Mr. Sooheon (Josh) Row will be joining us during her absence. Mr. Row is already familiar with our students and will teach Grade 8 and 9 Math and Science, as well as one Grade 9 PE class. Ms. Fillmore’s Grade 9 French and Drama classes will be taught by Ms. Bonello.
Have a wonderful weekend!
