This Week at Pratt

Thank you to all of the families and students who joined us for our Meet the Teacher event. It was wonderful to see families connecting with staff, exploring classrooms and learning more about what a day at Pratt looks like for students.

A special thank you to our families for the amazing staff potluck, our School Council volunteers for organizing the ice cream booth, and our WDP leadership students who were tremendous guides throughout the evening. If you weren’t able to join us, we missed you and look forward to seeing you at another school event soon!

Our fall athletics season is also well underway. Soccer has begun, basketball games start October 5, and our cross-country team has wrapped up another successful season. Congratulations to all students who earned a spot on a team, those who participated in tryouts, and our cross-country runners who represented Pratt rain or shine.

This week also marked Truth and Reconciliation Week across the Calgary Board of Education. Our staff and students have been reflecting on how we can continue to honour our commitment to Truth and ReconciliACTION in Education at William D. Pratt. Students will continue this work during Connect blocks next week and beyond, and our updated school commitment will be shared on our website.

Tuesday, September 29 is Orange Shirt Day, and we encourage students and staff to wear orange. We also invite our community to continue wearing orange on Wednesdays throughout October as we continue this learning and reflection.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation | September 30

There will be no school on Wednesday, September 30 for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Student Health Plans

If your child has a significant health concern, including a life-threatening allergy or a condition that may require intervention or an emergency response while at school, please complete the Student Health Plan Form attached to this week’s message.

Please remember that a new Student Health Plan is required each school year. Families should also notify the school whenever their child’s health needs change.

If your child does not have a significant health concern requiring a health plan or emergency response, you do not need to complete the form.

The Sun Oka Farms apple fundraiser continues! Families can order 10 lb boxes of Honeycrisp or Ambrosia apples.

Orders are due October 6, with delivery expected in mid-to-late October.
