Dear Pratt Families,

As we close the chapter on another school year, we want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for your continued partnership, support, and trust.

This year has been one of remarkable growth, learning, and resilience. Whether through academic achievements, artistic performances, athletic milestones, or quiet acts of kindness, our students have demonstrated a strength of character that makes us all proud. It has been a joy to watch them learn, lead, and lean into challenges with courage and curiosity.

Middle school is such a formative time—full of transitions, discovery, and self-development. Thank you for walking alongside us in supporting your child through these years. Your involvement—whether in classroom trips, at home, or during community events—has made a meaningful difference in your child’s success and in the life of our school.

As the year comes to a close, we want take time to say farewell to valued staff members.
We bid farewell to Mr. Joshua Blakeley, who has provided instruction in Construction, Design, and led our CTF (Career and Technology Foundations) team. Mr. Blakeley has been a strong advocate for students, wears many hats in our school and will be deeply missed within our school community.  We wish him the very best in his new position.

We also extend our thanks and best wishes to Ms. Turn, Ms. Degraffinreid, and Ms. Jaenen, who are also moving on to new opportunities. We are grateful for the dedication, care, and impact they have had on WDP students and our school community throughout their time with us.

At the same time, we are pleased to warmly welcome back Mrs. Leal, who has been away spending time with her family. In addition, we are thrilled to congratulate Mr. Bolu Dada and Mr. Adam Stevens, who will be continuing with us at Pratt for the foreseeable future. Their energy, commitment, and connection with students have been wonderful assets to our school, and we are delighted they will remain part of our team. Mrs. Kazmaier will be shifting into our CSSI/TASC classroom; her experience will provide terrific instruction for our CSSI/TASC students.  As we complete staffing for the 2025-26 school year, and before students return to classes on September 2, we will share an updated list of grade and classroom assignments.

If you did NOT receive your child’s preliminary results for their Provincial Achievement Tests (Grade 6 and 9 only), they will be available in the office until noon on Friday June 27.

As we look ahead to September, please note an important update regarding bused student drop-off:
Our school buses will be dropping off in a different location (Royal Birkdale Drive NW) beginning in September. Students will enter through various doors rather than the front door to accommodate this change.

Buses will drop off while northbound on Royal Birkdale Drive NW for the following reasons:

  • Royal Birkdale Drive is a straight stretch of road with no intersections making it safer for students who are walking and using crosswalks
  • There are no pedestrian crossings near the school on Royal Birkdale Drive to impact the visibility of motorists
  • There are several school doors on the west side of the building for the students to access
  • There are no fire hydrants on Royal Birkdale Drive like there are on Royal Oak Way.

In addition, this will allow for a safer and more efficient short term drop-off zone along Royal Oak Way.  We will share these details again as we approach the new school year, and signage will be clearly posted to support the transition.

To our Grade 9 families preparing to move on to high school - we wish you and your child every success in the journey ahead. You will always be part of our school family, and we hope you carry fond memories of your time with us.

To all families - we wish you a restful, joyful summer filled with time for connection, play, and recharge. We look forward to welcoming many of you back in the fall, ready for another year of learning and growing together.

With appreciation and warmest regards,
Your Admin Team, William D. Pratt School
